Any special or hidden talents: I learned to play the steel pan while studying abroad in Trinidad & Tobago.
What inspires Summer most: Holli Smith, Anna Chapman, Jawara and basically anything Nadia Lee Cohen has her hands in.
Summer’s Favorite Products: Any products that can offer a polished look while still being f*cked up/lived in. A few standouts are Oribe’s “Airstyle Cream” and “Supershine”, Reverie’s “Rake”, Bumble&bumble’s “Brilliantine” and “Grooming Creme”, R+Co’s “Spiritualized”. Also R+Co’s “Neon Lights” is a favorite finishing product on afro texture.
Summer realized her love for hair when she became the resident bowl cutter in her dorms in Boston and shortly thereafter moved to San Francisco to pursue her career in hairstyling. Her dedication and persistence of the craft led her to an apprenticeship under her "Hair Hero", David Tolls, at the highly regarded Cowboys & Angels Salon. It is here where she began to sharpen her eye and craft with both Vidal Sassoon foundations and modern razor cutting techniques. Inspired largely by British punk zines and vintage issues of Vogue, she is naturally drawn to all things editorial and brings that excitement to her work whether behind the chair or assisting backstage. The passion and creativity Summer uses in her approach to each cut and style offers her clients the utmost in suitability and freshness in regards to their wants and lifestyles.
