Shelly might as well have come into this world with a brush in one hand and shears in the other. A love for beauty at a young age, she spent most of her time reinventing Barbies haircut and untangling round brushes from her own hair.

Schooled in her native Sacramento, Shelly sought out the education of Vidal Sassoon and studied razor-cutting and advanced styling techniques at Bumble & Bumble University in New York. In 2013, Shelly left the city of trees for the city by the bay. There she joined BARROW Salon in SF where she elevated her craft specializing in cutting , hand painted Balayage, grey blending and up-styling. She is known for her easy breezy California waves, teaching her clients how to create texture or encouraging their own textured to live in its natural state. Shelly is also known for her soft dimensional hand painted blondes and smooth transition into growing out grey and blending with ease. In 2016, Shelly moved back to Sacramento where she co founded THE CO.TE.RIE and currently splits her time between there and Pony Studios. She continues education in advanced hair cutting and coloring and pursues her passion for teaching, editorial and collaborations. Her work has been seen on celebrity Goop guru Gwyneth Paltrow and Magazines such as Vogue Japan, Vogue Italia, Brit+Co, Refinery29, People, Moose Spain, DHC, and Destination. She is heavily influenced by fashion, music, nature and community. As well as the icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Drew Barrymore, Stevie Nicks and Debbie Harry. With her strong attention to detail and a natural effortless approach to hair, Shelly works and teaches with purpose and continues to push the limits.
